Hillcrest at a glance
Hillcrest was a sleepy village located - as the name suggests - on a rise along the main road from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. Hillcrest was used as a farming or 'weekend' village then still a good distance from the emerging port in Port Natal. As part of the outer west suburbs of Durban, it is a great area for families and also has a slightly cooler climate than the main centre of Durban. The town celebrated their centenary in 1995 and has seen an incredible increase in inhabitants migrating from more central areas in Durban.
